The collaborative drive between the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and Local Government Councils to enhance teaching and learning in public primary schools has received a significant boost with the donation of 10,000 exercise books by the Sapele Local Government Council.
The exercise books were formally presented to SUBEB at the Board’s headquarters on Tuesday as part of efforts to improve learning conditions in public primary schools within the Sapele Local Government Area.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, the Permanent Secretary of the Board, Sir Byron Unini, commended the Sapele Local Government Council for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful. He noted that the donation aligns with the MORE Agenda of the Delta State Government under the leadership of Sheriff Oborevwori.
Sir Unini specifically lauded the Chairman of Sapele Local Government Council, Hon. Bright Abeke, for his swift response to the appeal earlier made by the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Hon. Samuel Mariere, who had called on all Local Government Councils to partner with the Board in improving learning conditions and raising educational standards across the state.
“Today, we are pleased to receive 10,000 copies of 60-leaf exercise books from the Sapele Local Government Council for distribution to pupils in public primary schools within the local government. This gesture is a direct response to the call by the Executive Chairman of the Board on council chairmen to support learning initiatives at the grassroots level,” Sir Unini stated.
