
The Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Delta State, Hon. Samuel Mariere, has wished the Delta State contingent success as they depart for Abuja to represent the state at the National Basic Education Sports Finals.
The team is led by Ogoma Primary School, Ogwashi-Uku, which emerged victorious during the state-level competition and will now compete against champion schools from across the federation.
While addressing the team, the SUBEB Chairman reaffirmed Delta State’s strong commitment to the development of sports from the grassroots, describing school sports as a critical platform for nurturing talent at an early age. He emphasized that the state remains resolute in its efforts to identify and groom young talents, stating that Delta State will “stop at nothing in catching them young.”.
The send-off ceremony was attended by top education officials and stakeholders, including the Permanent Secretary of the Board, Sir Byron Unini, the UBEC State Coordinator, Mrs. Sharon Dafiluelo, and the Director of Academic Services, Mrs. Francisca Okpeh, all of whom expressed confidence in the team’s preparedness and ability to represent the state with pride.
The Board reiterated its commitment to supporting basic education programmes that promote excellence, discipline, teamwork, and healthy competition among pupils across Delta State.
