Delta SUBEB Flags Off Attend360 First Phase, Reintroduces Biometric Attendance System
May 26, 2026

The Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), has flagged off the first phase of the Attend360 Teachers Attendance System (TAS) and reintroduced the biometric clock-in system for teaching and non-teaching staff of public primary schools, Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) personnel across the state, as well as staff of the SUBEB Headquarters.
The initiative, themed “Smart Attendance with Delta Learn Attend360,” was launched at Uzoigwe Primary School, Asaba, on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen accountability, workforce discipline and technology-driven governance in the education sector.
Speaking at the occasion, the Executive Chairman of Delta SUBEB, Hon. Samuel Mariere, highlighted the challenge of teachers’ absenteeism, noting that it had contributed to some parents withdrawing their children from public schools.
He said the Board had since 2025 intensified teacher training and school digitalisation to improve learning outcomes and confidence in public education.
“The reintroduced biometric attendance system will enable daily tracking of teachers’ attendance through a monitoring dashboard accessible to relevant authorities, including the Governor’s Office, while absenteeism will attract sanctions,” Mariere said.
He explained that the first phase covers teaching and non-teaching staff of public primary schools, LGEA personnel and staff of the SUBEB Headquarters, adding that the initiative would improve teacher availability, discipline and accountability.
Mariere further explained that staff are expected to clock in with their fingerprints at resumption, after break periods and at close of work, while attendance records would be electronically stored for monitoring and verification. He added that the system is funded by the Federal Government and implementation would take into consideration palliative measures introduced by the Delta State Government.
“Anyone passionate about his or her job will always make himself available, relevant and indispensable, and government will always recognise dedication and commitment to duty,” he stated.
Giving an overview of the programme, the Managing Consultant of Schoolville Ltd., Mr. Charles Omordia, said the Attend360 platform establishes a process whereby attendance officers can contact teachers absent from school daily to verify approved permission or leave and ensure prompt return to duty where necessary.
According to him, the system also supports attendance monitoring, performance tracking and communication to strengthen discipline and efficiency in public primary schools.
In her vote of thanks, the Head Teacher of Uzoigwe Primary School, Mrs. Anamati Matilda, thanked the Delta State Government and SUBEB management for the initiative and the series of teacher training programmes, assuring that teachers in the school were ready to comply with government policies and “prove their worth” in achieving the goals of the education reforms.
Other dignitaries present at the event included the Second Member of the Board, Comrade Onome Akpoghere; the Functioning Secretary of the Board, Mrs. Eru Ezefili; the Education Secretary, Oshimili South LGEA, Mrs. Allanah; as well as Directors of SUBEB.
The initiative aligns with ongoing reforms in the education sector and supports Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda through improved accountability, discipline and service delivery in public basic education.
