
Delta SUBEB Celebrates Sir Byron Ununi’s 12 Years of Service at Asaba Commendation Ceremony

The Delta State Universal Basic Education Board has honoured its outgoing Permanent Secretary, Sir Byron Adimabua Ununi, for over 12 years of dedicated service to basic education in the State.
The commendation ceremony took place on recently at the BON Hotel Asaba and attracted Board members, management staff, and education stakeholders.
Sir Ununi began his career at SUBEB as Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, strengthening data-driven planning and programme delivery.
He later served as Secretary of the Board, providing administrative coordination and leadership while maintaining strong working relationships with the Chairman, Board members, and Directors.
His competence and dedication earned him appointment as Permanent Secretary during the administration of Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa.
Executive Chairman, Hon Samuel Mariere, described Sir Ununi as a dependable administrator whose calm professionalism strengthened programme coordination.
Mariere commended his discipline, integrity, and commitment to duty while wishing him success in his new role.
Key management staff also gave testimonies, including Director of Finance and Accounts, Mariam Dumbili; Director of Academic Services, Mrs Francisca Okpe; Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Eduiyovwiri Charles; and Director of Teacher Development, Mrs Eru Ezefili.
Renditions were delivered by the 2nd Member, Comrade Onome Akpogherhe, and 3rd Member, Lady
Josephine Edjeren, highlighting his professionalism and contributions.
Sir Ununi now serves as Permanent Secretary at the Delta State Ministry of Energy, continuing to contribute his administrative expertise to government service delivery.
His legacy at SUBEB is widely recognised for strengthening institutional efficiency and improving basic education administration in Delta State.
